I honestly think they're going the way of Cakewalk. The fxpansion forum seems to be dying too - the Geist forum is currently inundated with a stream of spam posts spanning 2 days which nobody from fxpansion appears to have seen. The last update for Geist 2 was in March, and no more updates in sight.

I paid for the upgrade and have yet to use it in a project - I just go back to Geist 1. Since then they've been swamped with complaints about the software - it's buggy, it's badly designed, it's essentially crap. It was a complete turkey - rushed out before it was ready in order to make fxpansion some money before the sale to ROLI. Otherwise the acquisition wouldn't make much sense.I think Geist 2 is essentially dead at this point. Roli is a hardware company and I doubt they would acquire FXPansion without Angus still coding the software. This would take a bit of rewrite of m2 code, but it would allow ni to semi discontinue battery, as a completely finished program only needing updates for compatibility, and have it now in maschine instead, devoting more resouceses to m2 development:Īs far as battery 4 and m2, it seems it would be better if m2 had an option in the key sound window to import battery kits and map to the notes while labeled would work better and be more efficient than takings another 10 - 25% of a core to load battery 4 pug in in m2, which is why it is better to load the battery sounds into m2 once you build a battery kit directly into m2, creating multiple groups if there are more than 16 sounds, or a live drum rack. The website is still up and I still get email updates from them. Oh, there is also a bug in m2 that if you have battery 4 loaded as a sound in the last opened project you may not be able to open m2 again without a computer reboot, as m2 will do it's launch hang next time you launch it. you can drag this to m2 sound slot but battery4 will not let you copy the name of the file to search for it so you have to review that if you did not remember it, being so many samples in the respective folder, this option to find in finder is somewhat incomplete. now if you control click on the file in battery browser and find it in the finder, it only opens the folder it is in, it does not take you to the file by selection or scroll. if you select the find in files that takes you to the file in the browser, and if you try the same, to drag over to m2 sound slot you cannot. if you try to drag a sound to m2 by dragging the sample from the wave window you cannot even though it appears like you can. one thing about battery 4 that annoys me is one of those obvious things that got by quality control. I find the battery 3 gui easier to read on a laptop.
